I went to the job fair thingy for Direct TV/First Contact today. WOW!
They were looking for people w/ call center/call back experience. I have neither, but i faked it. Yes i did. I said that i was responsible for answering calls from customers and calling back customers on any transactions they made(anything for a job i suppose). I have to take a test online, and then go back on the 29th to talk to this lady named lisa(tooth pick lady) after i take the tests. They never said if i should put a notice into my job or what, so i'm lost. I'd hate to put notice in and then not get the job. The two people i talked to had experience working in call centers. One of them handled collection type things, and she also did door-to-door sales(which i will never do...ever!), and the other guy has a bachelors degree in something, but hasn't used it(instead, he's been working at a restuaraant, and as a landscaper). The job pays 12.50 an hour(base pay is actually 8.50 an hour, but if you are on time and attend everyday, pay is 12.50 an hour) with possibility of making 14.50-18.00 an hour depending on performance for 40 hours a week. Then i work every other saturdays. from 11-8. and sundays from 11-5(nobody stays until 5 though).
It sounds like a really good job. All i do is call people and ask how their service is, and if they're happy with everything. Thats it. IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED, I'M REALLY REALLY REALLY TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE SHOE DEPT. ANYPLACE IS BETTER THAN THERE I'm probably the only person w/o call center experience. The other people there w/ call center experience only did it for 4 months. there 4 months and my none are about even. Right??
Finding that place was a bitch tho'! Its in between the first federal corporate building and something and its on the inside of an office building w/o signs or anything. I was just walking and guessing. I saw my old neighbor out there too(anytime there is a job fair or job anything, i always see him). |
